Jumbo Torayan (Captain)
These two large Torayan busts are installed on the rooftop observation deck of the Jumbo Ferry connecting Kobe to Shodoshima Island. One Torayan is the captain of the ferry and wields the rudder. The other holds an olive in its hand. Likened to Noah’s Ark, the Jumbo Ferry, guided by Jumbo Torayan, takes about 3 hours one way to reach Shodoshima as “ Island of Hope”.
